GUTKHA SCAM: CBI BEGINS PROBE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has reportedly begun its investigation into the Gutkha scam, in which Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and top police officers are allegedly involved. Earlier, the Madras High Court ordered the transfer of the case from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to CBI based on a petition by DMK MLA J Anbazhagan. It is expected that the CBI will soon issue summons to 17 persons, as mentioned in the FIR filed by DVAC, to appear for investigation.
