Due to violent protests in Thoothukudi against the Sterlite copper smelter, the Madras High Court ordered section 144 to be extended in Thoothukudi and its neighbouring districts. Section 144 prohibits the gathering of more than four people in an area. While this order was passed to maintain peace in Thoothukudi, a certain few were heavily affected.
According to reports, a marriage ceremony in Thoothukudi was boycotted by guests due to the order. Linfi Priscilla and Nishanth were to get married on Friday. Sadly, nobody turned up for their wedding ceremony. Reportedly, the wedding hall was seen with very few guests.
According to the bride and groom's families, food prepared for the guests ended up getting wasted.
