In a horrifying incident, mother of two daughters and a son, set the house on fire by causing an LPG cylinder blast deliberately. The mother and her daughters were charred to death when they were found. The incident was reported on Sunday in Trichy’s Navalpattu neighbourhood. The deceased mother has been identified as 58-year-old Vijaya Gowri, wife of Murugesan. Other identified persons include her daughter Vijalakshmi, 32 and Vijayavani, 29 and son Vijayakumar 28. They were all staying on the first floor of their residence at Bharati Nagar in Poolankudi colony.
Around 8:00 pm neighbours heard a blast from their home and found out that they were charred to death.
Preliminary investigation revealed that her son, Vijayakumar met with an accident 10 months ago and has been in comma since then. Recently, he came out of comma and was brought back to his home by Vijaya Gowri. Reportedly, his health condition had been deteriorating since then. On Sunday, at around 5:30 pm, his mother called for an ambulance to take him to the hospital.
When his condition was checked by health professionals, they declared him dead. The investigation revealed that this was the main reason behind the family committing suicide.
The investigation was conducted by a team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) of Navalpattu, Suresh Kumar.
The bodies were sent to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for Post Mortem.
