Chennai Metro has dawned as a boon to the city's citizens. However, the limited number of routes meant only people in parts of the city could access the mode of transportation.
People in Chennai mostly rely on local trains and buses for transport. Mostly, local trains as it connects far places of the city and it is much faster and cheaper than buses.
The Hindu reports that Chennai Metro has submitted the report for the stretch betweet Airport and Kilambakkam and will start the project. People from Tambaram and Chromepet will no longer have to only rely on local trains.
“It will take about 10-12 months to finish the report, after which the project can begin immediately because there is a lot of demand in that stretch,” said a source, reports The Hindu.
The stretch comes with 13 stations and will be 15.3 km long. It will be constructed along with GST Road and it will be completed in a year.
The stations will be Kilambakkam, Vandalur Zoo, Vandalur, RMK Nagar, Perungalathur, Irumbuliyur, Tambaram, MEPZ, Thiru VI Ka NAgar, Chromepet, Pallavaram, Airport.
