National Green Tribunal has directed the TANGEDCO-run North Chennai Thermal Power Station (NCTPS) to supply potable water to the villages affected by the dumping of fly ash by the power station into the ecologically-sensitive areas of Ennore Creek, Kosasthalai river and Buckingham Canal. The tribunal has also directed TANGEDCO and NCTPS to dredge the main canal of Kosasthalai river and Buckingham Canal, which have been highly silted and polluted by the fly ash deposits.
