EARTHQUAKE IN BAY OF BENGAL; TREMORS FELT IN CHENNAI

According to reports, an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale struck the Bay of Bengal in the early hours of Tuesday, the tremors of which were felt in Chennai.
Though the United States Geological Survey (USGC) measured the earthquake at 4.9, the India Meteorological Department put the figure at 5.1. The earthquake reportedly caused tremors in the city at around 7 am in the morning. Several social media users shared their experience of the earthquake. A user from Porur wrote, "I just experienced a decent tremor in Chennai which shaked (sic) my bed!" Another user wrote, "We could definitely feel the tremors here in Alandur, vibrant tremors.”
The Tamil Nadu Weatherman Pradeep John confirmed the quake. According to him, the earthquake's epicentre was not situated in Chennai. He also assured that no harm is expected.
