Tamil Nadu reportedly has a population of more than 8000 dwarfs, but not all of them have rights of disability benefits. According to media reports, most of them are unable to avail benefits, as doctors denied to certify them stating reasons they are only little short. This has become a major problem as they are not able to get proper education, sanitation. Reportedly, some of the demands put forth by them to the state government are to provide adequate housing facilities, free bus passes, and rise in the monthly allowance to Rs 1,500.
