In a shocking report, Sweety, a pet dog of people in Ayanambakkam, was rescued by neighbours on Monday after she was locked in a balcony by her owners for five days. The dog lived with her owners on the third floor of an apartment complex in Ayanambakkam.
Neighbours, after noticing the dog howl and cry in the balcony for a few days found out that the owners were away. “It was on a third-floor balcony and could not reach it for help. The dog suffered so much as the balcony used to be very hot and sunny during the daytime,” said the neighbour who rescued the dog.
The person who rescued the dog claimed that her calls to BlueCross were unanswered. Finally, her husband Robin Stephen approached another neighbour, who was entrusted with the custody of the keys of the apartment and opened the door. The dog was reportedly found lying on its own excreta in the balcony.
When the owners were questioned about the incident, they reportedly said that they were in a hurry to leave for a funeral and could not plan a place for the dog.
