DMK Leader J. Anbazhagan tested positive for the novel coronavirus, and succumbed to the disease on June 10. Incidentally, it happened to be his 62nd birthday.

"The 61-year old MLA, who has been fighting for his life with severe COVID-19 pneumonia rapidly deteriorated early this morning. Inspite of full medical support, including mechanical ventilation at our COVID-19 facility, he succumbed to his illness," the hospital said in a statement.

Following his death, one of his closest friends from the Tamil Cinema Industry, Director Ameer, revealed some unknown details from the past. It ranges from him being a fan of Dr. MGR, to Thalapathy Vijay. He also goes on to reveal how Anbazhagan saved LTTE Prabhakaran.
