The festival of lights is almost here and the people who went to the shopping zone of Chennai - T Nagar for their last minute shopping were shocked to find the apparent hike in parking fee in Greater Chennai Corporation. The fee for car parking has allegedly become 16 times higher than the usual parking charge. While on a normal day, the cost of parking a car for two hours would cost as low as Rs 5, shoppers paid as much as Rs 80 for two hours during the weekend before Diwali. The Greater Chennai Corporation’s parking lot near Panagal Park is reportedly under Tamil Nadu Ex-Servicemen Corporation’s agency.
