The government in order to prevent the spreading of dengue, has reportedly asked all the municipal officials to maintain the roads and surroundings clean. The municipality workers in Mogappair have reportedly used the white powder that is used for drawing patterns instead of bleaching powder on roads. According to media reports, they ran short of bleaching powder and used 'Kolam powder' and tried to make people believe that the local administrators are taking measures to keep the place clean.
