After sentenced to death by the Chengalpet Mahila Court on February 19, Dashwant has appealed to the Madras High Court on Wednesday. He reportedly said that the Chengalpet court failed to take into account the discrepancies in the evidence provided and the witnesses who spoke against him. Dashwant was imposed death penalty for the sexual assault and murder of seven-year-old Hasini.
Allegedly, Dashwant's plea was admitted and a division bench has ordered the police to file their responses in four weeks time.
