NIVAR CYCLONE UPDATE : TAMIL NADU TO CANCEL BUS AND TRAIN SERVICES FROM TODAY: LIST HERE!
Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduThe depression over the Bay of Bengal has intensified leading to cyclone Nivar affecting Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts. There will be high alert in Karaikal and Mamallapuram areas during November 25 as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph will gust to 120 kmph.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.
As per a statement by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami all coastal regions will have to be on high alert. Fishermen have been requested not to go to the sea. Bus services will be suspended in 11 districts from 1:00 pm today.
Chief Minister Palaniswami has announced suspension of inter and intra-district bus services in seven districts - Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Tanjavur, Tiruvarur, Villupuram, Chengalpattu and Pudukottai districts from 1:00 pm today.
People have been requested to remain indoors in the region where high rains are expected also to keep their important documents safe.
The IMD has predicted extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Nagapattinam, Myladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Villupuram. Kallapurichi, Thiruvannamalai districts and Puducherry on November 25.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Trichy, Karur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Tiruppatur, Ranipet, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Chennai and Tiruvallur districts. Heavy rain is also likely at isolated places over Salem, Namakkal, Erode and Pudukottai districts.

- Train No. 06865/06866 Chennai Egmore - Thanjavur – Chennai Egmore Special is fully cancelled on November 24 and 25.
- Train No. 06232 Mysuru - Mayiladuturai Special is partially cancelled between Tiruchchirappalli and Mayiladuturai on November 25.
- Train No. 06188 Ernakulam – Karaikal Special partially cancelled between Tiruchchirappalli and Karaikal on November 25.
- Train No. 06795/06796 Chennai Egmore – Tiruchchirappalli – Chennai Egmore Special is fully cancelled on November 25.
- Train No.06231 Mayiladuturai – Mysuru Special is partially cancelled between Mayiladuturai and Tiruchchirappalli on November 25.
- Train No. 06187 Karaikal – Ernakulam Special partially cancelled between Karaikal and Tiruchchirappalli on November 25.
- Train No. 02084 Coimbatore – Mayiladuturai Jan Shatabdi Special partially cancelled between Tiruchchirappalli and Mayiladuturai on November 25.
- Train No. 02083 Mayiladuturai – Coimbatore Jan Shatabdi Special partially cancelled between Mayiladuturai and Tiruchchirappalli on November 25.
- Train No. 02897 Puducherry – Bhubaneswar Special partially cancelled between Puducherry and Chenni Egmore on November 25.
