According to media reports, the roadside vendors committee has decided to issue ID cards to street vendors based on their biometric. Around 26,000 vendors in Chennai will reportedly be getting their ID cards after the election of 6 members of the vendor committee. The proposal was reportedly initiated in February 2016.
