Tamil Nadu State Land Use Board, in its research conducted on the impacts of climate change, has reportedly said that the seawater level on the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu will rise by from 4.35 meters to 6.85 meters in 2050. Land of 1963 sq km will go underwater, out of which, 144 sq km area will be from in and around Chennai, the research reportedly says. Around 10 lakh people will have to migrate to other areas, it says.
