A 24-year-old student, Prakash studying at the Government Fine Arts College in Chennai reportedly committed suicide in his native village in Vellore on Thursday after he left a suicide note and sent video messages on Facebook and Whatsapp blaming his Head of Department (HOD) in college for harassing him. On Thursday, hundreds of students of the fine arts college staged a sit-in protest demanding action against college authorities responsible for Prakash’s suicide. However, after police assurance students called off the protest.
