According to reports, the price of small onion has shot up to Rs 145 - Rs 170 in Chennai based on its quality as the inflow is down due to low yield. Koyambedu market traders union counsel reportedly said 150 tonnes of small onion arrived in 10 trucks to Chennai in September, while the number has gone down to 3 trucks in November. The price is likely to go up due to low yield. Meanwhile, the price of the big onion remains at Rs 40- Rs 50, reports say.
