The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has reportedly installed anemometers to measure wind speeds in strategic locations and get immediate data. As wind is one of the significant factors that affect the train movement, anemometers have been installed in Koyambedu, Alandur and Airport metro stations. Reports say that train operations will be halted when wind speed exceeds 90kmph. Notably, during Varadah cyclone, metro operations were reportedly halted for an hour when wind speed reached 140kmph.
