Periyapandiyan, Maduravoyal Police Inspector for Law and Order, was reportedly shot dead in Rajasthan’s Pali district when a team of Tamil Nadu police attempted to nab a gang of robbers. Further, Kolathur inspector Munisekhar was injured during the face-off with the robbers. The police team had visited Rajasthan to nab the robbers in connection with the burglary of a jewelry store in Chennai's Kolathur area. 3.5 kg gold was robbed on November 16, and four people who helped in the theft have been already arrested in connection with this case two days back in Rajasthan.
