Chennai: Mother shocked as son returns as transgender

According to reports, a youth named Rahul from Korattur in Chennai left for Sivaganga in January for a job only to return as a transgender. Rahul’s mother visited Sivaganga to see her son as she couldn’t establish contact with him for a while. She was shocked to see her son having turned into a transgender named Sumithra. Sumithra also refused to go with her mother. Later, the mother filed a habeas corpus petition in the Madras High Court. When her plea came for hearing, the mother told the court that there was no symptom or chance of her son to have such a change. Some people in Sivaganga had turned her son into a transgender by administering drugs, she alleged. However, Sumithra said that her decision was inspired by the information on the internet. Further, she agreed to go with her mother, reports added.
