A police sub-inspector of Aminjikarai station was stabbed by a man on Sunday midnight when the cop was engaged in checking the vehicles near Pulla Avenue in the area. 23-year-old Manikandan of Mogappair’s Padipudur was stopped by police during checking. The cops decided to take him to the police station when he gave confronting replies. However, the man tried to escape and SI Seenivasan jumped to stop him. Manikandan injured the cop with the knife he kept hiding, while other cops nabbed him. Later, it was revealed that the man has several theft cases pending against him and was also arrested under Goondas Act.
