Chennai hospital to pay Rs 15 lakh to woman after 20 years

KKR ENT hospital in Chennai has been directed by a consumer forum to pay Rs 15 lakh as compensation to one Eswari Kannan, almost 20 years after her 28-year-old son was taken to surgery without permission/consultation of the parents. 

Medical negligence led to her son K Ravikumar passing away in the year 1999. The forum said that there is no other alternative excepting to order compensation for the unauthorised procedures that were performed, which ultimately led to death of the patient.
