However, the situation had advanced and the monsoon started on October 16 (Wednesday). Meanwhile, Chennai received heavy rainfall from midnight which has apparently affected the day to day life of Chennai people.
Today morning (October 17), there was a massive traffic difficulty in Chennai city. Areas such as Vadapazhani, Koyembedu, Guindy, Maduravoyal, Porur, Valasaravakkam, Kodambakkam, T. Nagar, Nandanam. Mylapore, Adayar, Thiruvanmiyur, Velachery, Nungambakkam, Pallavaram, Chrompet, Tambaram and other prime spots have faced traffic difficulties.
Reports also alerted that the traffic would continue to worsen if the heavy rain continues in all these areas. Most of the areas flooded which further added to severe road conditions. Nandanam Signal, Kodambakkam Road, Annanagar-Koyembedu road, Porur-Poondamalle road, Nungambakkam and Anna Salai are major areas concerning heavy congestion in traffic.
