While thousands of commuters rely on electric train services from Tambaram to Chennai Beach, the service was stopped for a few hours today morning.
Upon inquiry from the railway employees, it was revealed that the trains were stopped due to some mechanical issues found in one of the electric trains near Nungambakkam railway station. The train had to be halted due to some fault in its engine.
It was reported that only one train was halted due to the issue initially. Since the time taken to resolve the issue took longer, other trains scheduled in the Tambaram-Chennai Beach route were also stopped.
The cut down of electric train service caused difficulties to office-goers, school students and college students. Some of the commuters told that they were running late to the office while some other told they were returning back to work from home. However, the services resumed after few hours in all the stations.
In a busy city like Chennai, even a minor glitch in public transport services could affect working-class people irrespective of the degree of impact.
