CHENNAI: CRIME BRANCH POLICE BUSTS FAKE PASSPORT RACKET

The Central Crime Branch police in Chennai on Monday arrested 11 persons for involving in preparation of fake passports, say reports. The gang collected expired passports from people and forged them with new names and photos. They reportedly prepared the fake passports for Srilankan Tamils who wanted to fly to other countries.
The police raided a travel agency office in Triplicane after receiving a tip-off and arrested M Veerakumar (47), M Balu (45), S Karthikeyan (40) and V Saravanan (43) and seized 80 duplicate Indian passports and 12 Lankan passports.
Reportedly, Veerakumar is a VCK worker from Tuticorin and contested the 2016 Assembly elections in Sriperumbudur, say reports. Based on information, police also arrested seven others including three Srilankan Tamils.
