Students of an engineering college in Kelambakkam near Chennai on Friday reportedly held a sit-in protest at the campus as the college administration denied 30 students permission to write the semester exams conducted by Anna University. The administration of SMK Fomra Institute of Technology denied them hall tickets saying they didn’t have adequate attendance to write the exam. Kelambakkam police negotiated with the college administration and 20 students were allowed to write the exams. However, the hall tickets of 8 out of the 20 were taken and they were asked to leave as they didn’t have attendance. Agitated over this, the students again held protests. The students dispersed after police held talks with them and assured them that they can write the exams on Saturday if they have adequate attendance.
