Chennai police arrested nine city-based students for cheating a Thoraipakkam-based supermarket owner Saravanan, by showing a fake app and making it look like they have paid for eatables and other stuff bought over a period of three months.
Saravanan realised his folly when the money amounting to Rs 30,000 wasn't credited in his bank account despite the students assuring him that it would reflect in his statement soon.
Based on a complaint from Saravanan, the cops arrested the students and remanded them to judicial custody.
