5 CHOLERA CASES CONFIRMED IN CHENNAI

According to a report in New Indian Express, five cases of cholera have been reported in Chennai. While the corporation officials have confirmed five cholera cases, the Director of Public Health Dr K Kolandaswamy said only four cases were notified to him.
Cholera is an acute diarrheal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio Cholerae. According to health experts, it is an extremely virulent disease that can cause severe acute watery diarrhea.
