CENTRE SUBMITS CAUVERY MANAGEMENT BOARD DRAFT IN SC

After getting slammed by the Supreme Court for not constituting the Cauvery Management Board on May 3, the central government finally submitted the draft plan in the Supreme Court on Monday.

The SC, however, said that it will not dwell on the correctness of the plan and will only see to it that it conforms to its judgement. It reportedly said, "We need to examine whether draft Cauvery scheme submitted by Centre is in consonance with our judgment."

According to the draft plan, the Board will consist of 10 members including Union Water Resources Secretary U.P. Singh. The members will have to carry out the tasks laid out by the bench of judges. Each state will contribute one member to the Cauvery Mangement Board.

The court will carefully examine the Centre's plan. It has set the next hearing date as May 16.
