CAR RAMS THROUGH BARRICADE, HITS TWO BIKES; INJURES 3 SEVERELY: HORRIFYING CCTV FOOTAGE!

A day after a car recklessly smashed against barricades, ramming two motorcycles and injuring four persons at the Camp Road-Mappedu Road junction near Selaiyur on Saturday afternoon, a 54-year-old man was later arrested.
Police said that the man has been identified as Varadan of Agaram. They are investigating whether the man was drunk at the time of the incident.
According to The News Minute report, in the horrifying visuals, the red car can be seen speeding towards the barricades on the Mappedu-Agaram main road off the Tambaram camp road, around 11.30 am on Saturday. In a matter of seconds, it crashed on to the barricade and takes the barricade along before hitting two bikes which were driving past the barricades.
After crashing the bikes, the car then sped away without stopping, after knocking down four persons from the motorbikes. A frantic man who was knocked down rushed to check on a woman who was the pillion rider on his bike, while the rider of the other motorbike lay unconscious with the onlookers rushing to check on him.
The four persons have been identified as Gladson, 18, Vikram, 18, from Selaiyur; Arumugam, 45, and his wife Shanthi, 41 who were injured in the accident, reports The Hindu.
"Initially, the motorists did not lodge a complaint. But, on Sunday, they filed a complaint. Based on the vehicle registration, we identified the suspect as Varadan, 54," said a police inspector attached to the Chromepet traffic investigation wing. None of the motorists was wearing helmets. Gladson and Shanti sustained severe injuries, the police said, The Hindu reported.
“We have collected CCTV camera footage from other junctions to check if he caused accidents elsewhere. As of now, we have registered a case under Section 338 of the IPC (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others),” said a police officer.
