The Election Commission of India on Monday reportedly filed a reply in the Delhi High Court in connection with RK Nagar MLA TTV Dhinakaran’s plea seeking to allocate the ‘Cooker’ symbol for the upcoming local body elections in Tamil Nadu. Stating that the civic polls are conducted by the State Election Commission, the ECI added that it doesn’t have the authority to order the allocation of the symbol to TTV Dhinakaran, say reports. Further, the Commission reportedly said that it cannot order to provide a name for Dhinakaran’s faction as it is not a recognized political party. ECI also asked the court to quash TTV Dhinakaran’s interim petition, say reports.
