The Madras High Court on Friday reportedly told the Tamil Nadu police that an FIR can be filed against Vijayendra Saraswathi, the pontiff of Kanchi Mutt, if a cognisable offence is found against him. The pontiff is accused of disrespecting Tamil Anthem at an event in January. The pictures and videos of him standing for the national anthem, but not for the Tamil anthem, stirred up controversy.
