Trade unions have reportedly called off the strike and said that employees will return to work on Friday. Earlier, transport employees went on strike for eight days as they were unhappy with the pay hike proposed by the government. This led to inconvenience for the public, who had to resort to alternate and expensive modes of transport. Moreover, the temporary drivers employed by the government showed their ill-experience behind the wheel with as many as five deaths reported and many minor incidents recorded.
