In a bizarre ritual, that is still being followed in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra, teen girls and women, dressed as brides are being forcibly taken to Mathamma temple in Thiruvallur district. Then their clothes will reportedly be torn by five boys till they are left naked. The women will reportedly be left in the temple thereafter, leaving them prone to sexual violence.This inhuman act got the attention of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) following a complaint. Reportedly, NHRC has ordered the Tamil Nadu and Andhra police to submit a report based on this issue.
