'ANNA UNIVERSITY' TO JOIN THE LIST OF 'IIT-MADRAS' AND MORE UNIVERSITIES; DETAILS HERE!

According to the latest reports, Anna University, Tamil Nadu is more likely to get the Institute of Eminence (IOE) status. The centre has devised plans to confer the university with IoE status as per the guidelines of UGC ( University Grant Commission).

Once the IoE status is acquired by Anna University, the institution would have special privileges and can function on its own to empower the institution with World Class facilities. The IoE status will enable Anna University to get Rs. 1000 Crore funds from the Central Government. Further, the institution can admit international students and hire foreign professors without the consent of the Central Government.

The Institution of Eminence (IoE) scheme was launched in 2016 Home Minister's budget with an intention to let the commitment of the government to empower the higher education Institutions which will, in turn, facilitate the institutions achieve world-class teaching faculties, state-of-the-art infrastructure and high-quality research centres.

Once the Anna University's IOE deemed University status is officially announced, it will be added in the list of other IoE deemed universities including IIT-Madras, IIT-Kharagpur, University of Delhi and the University of Hyderabad to name a few.
