Poor road condition and lack of safety measures claimed the life of a 7-year-old school student in Vellore's Ambur on Tuesday, reports The Hindu.
Police sources said that Divyadarshini, studying in II standard in a government aided school in Ambur, was travelling in an autorickshaw along with her brother and 15 other students to go to school.
When the auto driver Karthikeyan applied brakes suddenly near Mottukollai on noticing the bad condition of the road, Divyadarshini, who was sitting on the front seat with the auto driver, was thrown out of the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The child was taken to the government hospital where she was pronounced dead. Divyadarshini’s father Munusami works as a loadman and her mother Padmavathi works in a private shoe factory in Ambur. The police arrested the auto driver and the investigation is on.
