18-YEAR-OLD IIT MADRAS STUDENT KILLS SELF IN HOSTEL ROOM

In a sad and shocking case, an 18-year-old student, who was pursuing her first-year MA from IIT Madras was found hanging in her hostel room on November 9.
The girl has been identified as Fathima Lateef, who hailed from Kerala's Kollam city.
According to News18 Tamil reports, Fathima's mother had been calling her since last night but failed to all attempts. Today morning, at around 10:00 am Fathima's friends had gone to her room to check on her when they were shocked to see her hanging from the fan in her room.
The students along with hostel staff informed the Kotturpuram police, who registered the case and are investigationing. On an immediate call, the police rushed to IIT Madras and have sent the body to Royapettah Hospital for autopsy.
Investigation in the matter has just begun and the police are yet to ascertain the cause of her death.
