According to reports, Tamil Nadu has emerged as the top State in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The target given for 2016-17 was 31.5 crore person days. However, Tamil Nadu managed to achieve 39.59 crore person days. Notably, Tamil Nadu has failed even to reach the target in 2014-15 as well as 2015-16.
