In the ongoing protests over the ban of Jallikattu, Naven, a college student allegedly attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself from a tree at VOC Stadium in Coimbatore on Friday. However, the protesting volunteers immediately climbed the tree and rescued him. Meanwhile, in another incident, a 17-year-old student suffered fatal injuries with 50 per cent burns, after he came in contact with a high tension wire carrying 25,000V while protesting on top of a train.
