Apple Co-founder Steve Jobs revealed the reason behind the company’s name in a video from 1980. Jobs said that the company was initially named 'Apple Computers' so that it would be listed in phone books before his previous employer, Atari. They decided to go with 'Apple' unless someone could come up with a better name by 5 o'clock that day. Jobs added that the name epitomizes "simplicity" and "sophistication".
