In the current IPL series, Chennai Super Kings seem to have almost lost their play-off round chances.

So far, CSK has won 10 matches, of which only three have been won. Despite winning the remaining matches, the next round will be a tough one.

Earlier, Dhoni stepped down as CSK captain before the start of the IPL.

Thus, Ravindra Jadeja was sworn in as the new captain of CSK. Chennai, who had lost the first four matches, then recorded their first win in the match against Bangalore. Following this, CSK won only two of the first eight matches.

Following this, Dhoni re-assumed the captaincy to replace Jadeja from the post of CSK captain. Fans, who had hoped that Dhoni would no longer be seen as the captain, were overjoyed by CSK's decision. Many were eager to see Dhoni as captain.

Subsequently, CSK, led by Dhoni, won the match against Hyderabad. Following this, CSK got off to a good start in the match against Bangalore, but lost by 13 runs as successive wickets fell.

While fans were delighted to see Dhoni's captaincy comeback, many cricket celebrities have criticized CSK's decision. In that regard, former India fast bowler R P Singh has commented on the CSK decision.

“When MS Dhoni is there then he should have ideally been the captain. If you hand the captaincy to someone else while MS is still there, the individual won't take as much pressure because he is aware MS is there and he will guide me."

“The decision was good but if you look back he (Jadeja) shouldn't have been dropped. You've already made him the captain then trust him for an entire season and not drop him in the middle.” “You ended Jadeja's hopes that he can ever become the captain,” Singh noted during an interaction to a popular sports portal. 

“There's a common mindset, the senior most player or the most respected player is usually elected as the captain. But the case was different with MS, he was not the senior most player, other seniors were there. So they need to find captain material, who can be either senior or junior." Similarly, RP Singh said that the CSK team management and Dhoni should think together and decide whether to appoint Ruturaj or someone else as the CSK captain.
