Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore clashed in the 3rd league match of the IPL series. Batting first, Bangalore scored 205 for the loss of 2 wickets. Captain Du Plessis top-scored with 88, followed by Virat Kohli (41) and Dinesh Karthik (32).

Following this, the Punjab team started with the Himalayan target of 206 to win. Many fans commented that it was difficult for the Punjab team to score this goal. But from the beginning, the Punjab players started to show action. So the team scored 208 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19 overs. Punjab beat Bangalore by 5 wickets.

In this situation both the teams have created a different record together in this match. In the first innings, Punjab gave away 23 extra runs with wide and no balls. Following this, the Bangalore team gave away 22 extra runs. So, in total, 45 extra runs were scored in a single match.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers combined for 38 extra runs at the start of the IPL in 2008. This was followed by Punjab and Mumbai in 2010 with 38 runs. Currently, Punjab and Bangalore have set this unwanted record of 45 extra runs.
