NO-BALL CONTROVERSY: STRICT ACTION TAKEN AGAINST 3 PLAYERS INCLUDING RISHABH PANT - DETAILS!
Home > News Shots > SportsThe IPL management has taken action against Delhi captain Rishabh Pant for his angry behavior during the match against Rajasthan.
The IPL league match between Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals took place yesterday. Batting first, Rajasthan added 222 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs. Following this, Delhi set a target of 223 for victory and lost by 20 runs for only 207 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Delhi were on course to win the match by 36 runs in the last over. Rovman Powell and Kuldeep Yadav were on the field then. In it, McCoy of Rajasthan bowled the last over of the match. Powell hit a hat-trick six in the first 3 balls of the over. This caused a stir in the game. This was followed by McCoy throwing the 3rd ball as a fulcrum to Powell at waist height. He also hit a six.
Following this, Powell demanded a no-ball from field umpire Nitin Menon as he was thrown to the waist. But the umpire did not give it. Delhi captain Rishabh and Shardul Thakur, who were immediately seated in the dugout, expressed their dissatisfaction with the umpire's decision. The umpire categorically denied that it and said that it did not go over the waist.
Thus the game was stopped for a few minutes. Captain Rishabh Pant, who was watching this, gestured to the pavilion to come back even after Powell and Kuldeep Yadav had played on the field. Thus there was great excitement. Then all the senior players and coaches of the Delhi team calmed down the Captain. Meanwhile, Pravin Amre, assistant coach of the Delhi Capitals team, went and argued with the umpire. This incident has caused a great stir in the IPL series.
The IPL management has condemned the action of Delhi captain Rishabh Pant and imposed a fine of 100 per cent of match fee. The team's fast bowler Shardul Tagore has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee. Similarly, Delhi assistant coach Pravin Amre has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee and banned from participating one match.
