Pretorius shares Dhoni's advice in the final stages of the match against Mumbai.
The IPL league match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians was played at the Mumbai ground yesterday. Batting first, Mumbai scored 155 for 7 wickets. Tilak Varma top scored with 51 runs.
Batting next, CSK won by 156 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Ambati Rayudu top-scored with 40 and Robin Uthappa top-scored with 30. In the last over, wicketkeeper Dhoni scored 28 off 13 balls and Dwaine Pretorius 22 off 14 balls.
Dwaine Pretorius shared Dhoni's advice on the last phase of the match in which he said, ‘I wanted to go for that scoop shot in the first over against Bumrah (his third), but he (Dhoni) said, 'Wait, wait, wait'. I waited and the next over I said, 'Now I'm going.' And he said to go for it. I went for it. We knew we needed five boundaries, no dots and we could get over the line. I'm working hard and just glad I could contribute to a win to the team today and hopefully we can win a few more."
Only 6 runs were bowled in the 17th over by Bumrah. CSK's Dwaine Pretorius tried to hit a scoop shot in that over. With 6 wickets already gone, it will be difficult for the new batsmen if the wickets fall in the last over. So Dhoni warned not to hit shots for such risk. Accordingly only two singles were taken in that over. Following this, Dwayne Pretorius hit two fours in the 19th over off Bumrah. So 14 runs in that over went and marked a turning point in the game.
