BREAKING: MITHALI RAJ ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM ALL FORMS OF INTERNATIONAL CRICKET!

Mithali Raj, the star of the Indian women's cricket team, has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket.

Born on December 3, 1982 in Rastan, Mithali Raj's father is Tamil. Mithali, the daughter of the Durairaj-Leela, used to play cricket with her brother Mithun as a child. Due to her interest in cricket at that time, Raj gradually began to progress. She made her debut against Ireland and impressed the crowd with her incredible performance.

Raj has played in 12 Tests, 232 ODIs and 89 T20Is so far and is known as one of the best cricketers in the world. Raj last played for India in a match against South Africa during the 50-over World Cup earlier this year. India lost by three wickets and were eliminated.

In a statement, she said, "I set out as a little girl on the journey to wear the India blues as representing your country is the highest honour. The journey was full of highs and some lows. Each event taught me something unique and the last 23 years have been the most fulfilling, challenging and enjoyable years of my life. Like all journeys, this one too must come to an end. Today is the day I retire from all forms of international Cricket. Each time I stepped on the field, I gave my very best with the intent to help India win. I will always cherish the opportunity given to me to represent the tricolour. It was an honour to have led the team for so many years. It definitely shaped me as a person and hopefully helped shape Indian Women's Cricket as well."

Following Mithali Raj's announcement that she will retire from all forms of cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has congratulated her. The BCCI said on its official Twitter page, "Your contribution to Indian cricket has been phenomenal. Congratulations Mithali on an amazing career. You leave behind a rich legacy. We wish you all the best for your second innings."
