The 15th season of the IPL series kickstarts from the 26th. This year 2 new teams have joined - Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. So a total of 10 teams will be seen clashing each other this year.
As the two new teams emerged, the players on all the teams were disbanded and a mega IPL auction was held recently. Each team competed and bid on the players. Similarly, the newly formed Lucknow Super Kings team has bid for a number of foreign players, including Indian players. KL Rahul, India's youngest wicket-keeper-batsman, is the captain of the team.
It has been reported that England fast bowler Mark Wood has ruled out of the Lucknow squad. He is said to have suffered an elbow injury and was unable to bowl properly. So it has been reported that he is withdrawing from the current IPL series. Currently the players have completed the isolation and are engaged in intense training.
The first match of the current IPL series is scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Chennai Super Kings, led by defending champions MS Dhoni, will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders, led by youngster Shreyas Iyer. The sudden exit of Mark Wood just days before the IPL kickstarts is seen as a setback for the Lucknow team.
