Punjab opener Shikhar Dhawan has escaped from the squad for the match against Delhi.
The 64th league match of the IPL series was played at the Mumbai Stadium yesterday. The Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings clashed. Batting first, Delhi scored 159 for 7 in 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 63 and Sarfraz Khan with 32.
Following this, Punjab batted with a target of 160 to win. Johnny Barstow and Shikhar Dhawan were the opening batsmen. Johnny Barstow was dismissed for 28 off 15 balls. Following this, Shikhar Dhawan teamed up with Banuka Rajapaksa.
In the 5th over, Lalit Yadav chased down Shikhar Dhawan and caught the ball. But for that Dhawan ran to take the run to the opposite end. But Banuka Rajapaksa did not notice this. He was just looking at where the ball went. So the two stood on the same end. Thus Shikhar Dhawan's outing was confirmed.
It was at that point that a twist occurred. Lalit Yadav threw the ball incorrectly and wicketkeeper Rishabh Bandh did not like it. Taking advantage of this, Banuka Rajapaksa quickly ran back. At this stage, the Punjab team scored only 142 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. It is noteworthy that Delhi won by 17 runs.
