Mumbai: Sachin's son Arjun Tendulkar is all set to play in the IPL match for the first time today.
Arjun Tendulkar clean bowls a batsman's stump during training ahead of the much-anticipated match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The Mumbai team has shared this video on social media.
Left-arm fast bowler Arjun is yet to play in the IPL, but it looks like he will get a chance soon. For the unversed, Arjun Tendulkar is an all-rounder.
Arjun has been with the MI team for some years. He was the net bowler for the Mumbai team before being signed for Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2021 auction. In the IPL 2022 mega auction, the Gujarat Titans team also showed interest in buying him. However, MI team bid Arjun for Rs 30 lakh.
22-year-old Arjun has been left out of the XI squad to play against the Lucknow Super Giants. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, other MI fast bowlers have struggled to take wickets this season. Thus Arjun is more likely to play in today’s match. His all-rounder ability is also a major factor in Arjun's inclusion in the XI.
Despite today's match being the worst match between the two teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, the league match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings is expected to create a record number of television viewers.
CSK is in 9th position with only 1 win in 6 matches.
