LIVE CHAT: YUVRAJ SINGH REVEALS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CURRENT CRICKET TEAM & SENIORS TO ROHIT SHARMA
Home > News Shots > SportsDuring a recent Instagram live session with Team India batsman Rohit Sharma, former India batsman Yuvraj Singh explained the difference between the current team and seniors.
Cricket fans were over joyed to see both the stars on a live session expressing themselves and opening up on various topics. Talking about the differences between the team members, Yuvraj said, "When I came into the team or when you (Rohit) came into the team, our seniors were very disciplined. Obviously there was no social media so there were no distractions."
"There was a certain behaviour that we boys had to carry, how they talk to people, how they talk to media. Because they were the ambassadors of the game and India," he added.
Further talking about the current team's behaviour, Yuvraj asserted, "So that is what I had told you guys. After playing for India, you have to be more careful about your image. But I feel the third generation. There are only two seniors, Virat and you, who are playing all the formats, rest of the guys are coming and going".
When talking about role models in the current cricket team, former player Yuvraj said, "I just feel there are very fewer guys to look up to and I feel that a sense of respect towards seniors, that has become a thin line now. Koi bhee kisiko kuch bhee keh deta bhain (anyone can say anything to anyone)," said Yuvraj.
Further commenting on the incident involving Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on a chat show, Yuvraj said "That incident could not have happened in our time."
Rohit also spoke about how Rishabh Pant has become a target for his underwhelming performances. "When I came into the team, there were so many seniors. I think I was the only youngster alongside Piyush Chawla and Suresh Raina. The atmosphere is light now. I keep talking to the youngsters, the five-six of them."
"I try to talk to Rishabh a lot and make him understand. He is scrutinised a lot. He is just 21-22. Media feels it is part of their job. They should think what they are writing. 5-6 players are there I talk to regularly. You need to have experience to go into the zone. Now Rishabh, (Prithvi) Shaw, (Shubman) Gill...we can’t expect them to play like Virat and you from the get go. It has to be over certain period of time," he finally added.
