India’s defeat in the World Cup has put Virat Kohli in a situation where the skipper has decided to step forward and stand by the team in order to get back the team in form. A month ago, it was reported that Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the West Indies tour which will have Ravi Shastri as the head coach for the one last time before the expiry of his tenure.
The latest report from India today reveals the decision to rest Kohli is reversed and he will be travelling to West Indies to play ODI, T20 and Test matches. Kohli is reportedly at the verge of disappointment after the World Cup defeat and it is understood that he would want to set things back on track starting from the West Indies series.
According to the report by India Today, the Indian Skipper has informed his wish to the selectors to play in all the three formats against West Indies. Kohli did not get rest as he is continuously playing since India’s tour of Australia. Previously he had been given rest for the final 2 ODIs and T20 series in New Zealand.
The squad for West Indies tour is likely to be finalized on July 19. The series starts from August 3 and ends on September 3 which will have 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 2 Test Matches.
